Downgrading Database from SQL Server 2008 R2 to 2008

The information in this post is from Downgrade database from SQL 2008R2 to SQL 2008 by Abdalla Massani.

My write up

  • In SSMS, on the SQL Server R2 instance, right click it and go to Properties -> Tasks -> Generate Scripts...
  • If you click the Next button a couple of times, there should be an Advanced button. Click on this button.
  • In the Options that show up, change the following two options:
    • Script for Server Version -> SQL Server 2008
    • Types of data to script -> Schema and data
    then click OK.

Using the above options should create a script which will also include INSERT statements for each row in the database.
